Xculler came down in May for a week hunting tahr on the West Coast. On the first night we stretched the barrels of the ole 7mm-08s and managed to drop a bull each at 480 yards. Both measured 11 1/2".

The weather far exceeded forecasts, so on the third day we headed to the tops for a couple of nights fly camping. Xculler shot this bull that measured 12 5/8" ... an excellent trophy to take home.

Xculler shot his bull only 100 metres below camp, at the same time as these nannies tried sneaking past me at the tent.

There were two bulls with them and I managed to shoot this critter which measured 12 5/8" on the longest horn, but only 12" on the other

All this action happened within an hour of dropping our gear and we both felt completely satisfied with the outcome. So we spent the next day shooting with cameras. Along with tahr, there were other willing subjects:

Plenty of tahr presented themselves too:

This one was lucky Xculler didn't have room in his bags for his bow, which remains to be blooded. This young bull was only metres away and would have been a sitter for a broadhead

Once again, another excellent hunting trip with Xculler ... I really enjoyed our time on the hill and we had some nice trophies to take home
