If you couldn't make it to the recent NZDA display of Great Otago Heads, here's a series of pics. WestCoaster and I left Christchurch at 7am ... driving to Oamaru for the NZDA conference attractions. While there were a couple of disappointments, the Great Otago Head display was ... well, great! As Oscar said on his post to the Hunters Haunt forum, "They've never before been together in one place, and probably never will be again". Pics of all the heads are here ... with two of Archie Kitto's "Big Chief". Under each head is a pic of the information sheet, so you can identify the heads. Some info sheets are a bit blurry, but you can make out the Douglas Score and vital statistics at least. The McLeod head has a pic of the brass nameplate, but it didn't have an info sheet. However, the details are: J. A. “IAN” McLEOD. MacFARLANE VALLEY – 1924. 44 inches long, Douglas Score 394 - Bruce Banwell considers this the best set of Red Deer antlers the world has ever seen. Enjoy!
