OK, so this is not entirely hunting related, but most NZ blokes use trailers on a regular basis. I'd been wanting to upgrade my old trailer and spent some time researching what's available. I settled on Kaiapoi trailers, because they seemed to be offering affordable trailers without compromising quality where it counts.

There's been plenty of publicity about Chinese trailers that have been suffering busted axles under moderate loads. Not something I'd ever like to experience!

Well, Kevin at Kaiapoi Trailers makes use of imported, lower cost trailer bodies and chassis' that are fully hot-dipped galvanised. Then, he builds his own tough (50 x 50 x 5mm RHS) axles with NZ new AL-KO hubs & Japanese quality NSK bearings ... to be sure they can handle the loads we throw at them.

I opted for optional 500mm sides and a cage, to get good loads of firewood, along with LED lights so I can tow with either my Commodore (12V) or Landcruiser (24V) without dicking around changing bulbs. Nothing was a problem to Kevin and, later when I was a bit concerned about the loads I was hauling, he happily upgraded it to heavy duty springs.

I was so stoked with the service and product that I wanted to let everyone know how good I found Kaiapoi Trailers. There's nothing in this for me and I paid full price for the trailer ... but thought this info would be valuable for any WildHunts member looking for a good New Zealand trailer.

Oh yeh ... Kevin delivers nationwide (and often has trouble keeping up with orders!)
